ABOUT THE ART

Poli’ahu is the Hawaiian snow Goddess who lives on the sacred mountain of Mauna Kea.

Currently, the mountain is the topic of the news as Hawaiians and others try to protect the sanctity of the mountain by preventing further development of even more telescopes.

It is the highest volcanic peak in the world, and the place where earth mother and sky father meet. The mountain is named after Wākea, sky father. Design by Malialuika.
